Sustainable Development Today For A Sustainable Future Tomorrow

Attention Produce Distributors and Restaurant Owners:

About

Established in 2014, Greenhouses Canada combines energy efficient building technology with a passion for local food access to generate high quality, ecologically sourced produce revolutionizing how communities access fresh food year-round.

Our Divisions:

Fresh Produce: Our produce is grown using a vertical aeroponics system ensuring a consistent, high quality product that is ready for consumption.

Indoor Farms of Canada: Greenhouses Canada is an authorized sales representative for Indoor Farms of America. We are able to provide the most innovative and cost effective indoor agriculture equipment on the market.

Greenhouse Consultation and Design: No matter what the scale of your project, Greenhouses Canada will provide a customized solution to fit your year-round growing needs.

Fresh Produce

We are currently growing produce at our Greenhouse in Espanola, Ontario. The following produce is available for sale.

Kale Mature.jpg

Mature and Baby Kale

Our Kale is grown in an N.F.T (Nutrient Film Technique) system located in Espanola, Ontario. This system is fast, uses less water than conventional soil and will produce reliable and consistent Kale year-round.

Wheatgrass.jpg

Wheatgrass

Our Wheatgrass is grown in Sudbury, Ontario using a traditional soil method. We harvest and plant our wheatgrass weekly, keeping it fresh and ready for consumption!

Various Greens

Our vertical aeroponics panel system allows us to grow many different greens including mesclun mix, microgreens and more. This system uses up to 95% less water than conventional soil methods and produces happy, tasty greens year-round.

Indoor Farms Of Canada

By balancing growing techniques and energy efficiency in our designs, we maximize food production while minimizing operational costs.

We are dedicated to creating a sustainable food supply for generations to come.

What is aeroponic vertical growing?

Aeroponic vertical growing techniques are the most innovative and cost effective end-to-end indoor agriculture equipment on the market. Plants are placed on a vertical surface while their roots hang in the air. Misting nozzles spray a nutrient rich fog into the root area allowing the plant to grow significantly faster than traditional growing methods while using less water.

Benefits

  • Consumes 90-95% less water than traditional soil farming
  • All natural - pesticide and herbicide FREE
  • ZERO crop loss due to foraging animals or insect pests
  • Allows fresh, locally grown produce year-round
  • Helps reduce shipping costs
  • Increases food security
  • High crop yield, with little agricultural experience

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

Conventional greenhouses are not able to operate during the winter months due to high costs associated with maintaining optimal growing conditions. Our energy efficient greenhouses operate in all four seasons. There are two important considerations to our design objectives: plant growth and energy efficiency. Our priority is plant growth while controlling for the most optimum efficient operating conditions for ventilation, lighting, and minimal energy consumption to achieve the desired outcomes.

During the consultation and design phase we will determine the best use of technology to suit individual growing needs. We have many options to consider in this process including:

  • Solar energy
  • Geothermal
  • Hydroelectric
  • Biomass

By balancing growing techniques and energy efficiency in our designs we can maximize food production while minimizing operational costs.

Our water-based growing technology combined with energy efficient power systems also maximizes food production.

Modern growing techniques include:

  • Hydroponics: the method of growing plants in a water based, nutrient rich solution. The basic idea behind hydroponics is to allow the plants roots to come in direct contact with the nutrient solution, while also having access to oxygen, which is essential for proper growth.
  • Aquaponics: the marriage of aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (the soil-less growing of plants). It is highly adaptable to home-based use, is also very low maintenance, and produces very high amount of food/area (food density), while requiring very little external inputs.
  • Aeroponics: The method of growing plants where the roots are misted with nutrient rich water to produce high quality plants while decreasing water usage.
